Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, Tucson, Arizona

Today I traveled across town, 26 miles from the west side of Tucson to the far east side.

The
Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, a "dude" ranch if you will, is a long-time fixture in Tucson. Most of us rarely see it because it's off the beaten path, tucked away in the desert, near the Rincon Mountains and the Saguaro National Park with its trailhead into the desert.

This is horse country, something most of
us Red Hatters are not interested in. Perhaps...once upon a time...but not when your bones are upwards of 80- or 90-years-old. Horses are for the young.

Most of us are into fun, laughter, good friends, silliness. The Tanque Verde Guest Ranch has the relaxed atmosphere and ambiance that allows us to let our hair down, wear our feathers and outrageous dresses and hats.

Let's not forget the food; perhaps
I should say "dessert". It's
what we like to start with, and when we're over 50 we can do it.

The day was perfect. Perfect weather, 65 and sunny; over 70 ladies decked out in their finest; laughter and the fun of exchanging holiday gifts with the excitement of children.
